Medical Center.
Cristina had never gotten jealous over Dr. Burke, yet she had turned into a vinegar jar over Meredith. Adam was delighted to watch the show.
But then his gaze sharpened.
The Chief of Surgery was walking toward him with Meredith's remarkable best friend.
"Some serious backing there."
Adam understood immediately.
Being able to get in at a time when they weren't recruiting interns already made it obvious she had backing.
And now the Chief of Surgery was personally bringing her over to him.
This backing clearly wasn't ordinary backing. At the very least, it had to be the kind of backing that came from a senior member of the Medical Center's board of directors.
"Dr. Duncan."
The Chief of Surgery approached with a broad smile and said to Adam, "I heard you've been very busy lately. Even the Surgical Holy Grail Competition—your interns haven't had time to participate.
"Sadie is Meredith's good friend, and she's also an excellent intern.
"After graduating, she spent more than a year working in the morgue and has accumulated plenty of work experience.
"Do you think you could take her under your wing?
"She could also help you handle some of the miscellaneous work."
Sadie gave Adam a sultry smile.
"Since you're the one asking, Chief, and she's Meredith's good friend."
Adam smiled. "Of course I can give her a chance. But you don't mind if I ask her a few questions first, right? After all, I don't know much about her yet."
"Of course. Ask whatever you like."
The Chief of Surgery wore an expression that said, Go ahead. Don't worry about me.
"Sadie, how would you handle a pulmonary embolism?"
Adam smiled at the woman Meredith had nicknamed Devil.
"..."
Devil Sadie froze.
"All right, that was a little too advanced."
