Adam pointed at George. "If you don't believe me, look at his neck. Dr. Hunt, during a PTSD episode, strangled him. If we hadn't stopped him in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable."
The young lieutenant immediately looked at George.
Under Adam's gaze, George could only lift his chin, exposing the severe bruises.
"Oh, right. Dr. Hunt never said he had PTSD."
Adam reminded him.
"I'm different from him."
After a moment of silence, the young lieutenant's gaze hardened once more. "I'll devote my entire life to the battlefield."
"The battlefield needs soldiers with amputated legs?"
Adam asked in surprise.
"There are plenty of them."
The young lieutenant said confidently, "The battlefield is our home, and our comrades are our family."
"Don't you have family?"
Adam asked. "I mean real family."

The young lieutenant said, "Can you understand what it's like to have family who don't understand you? Who don't understand you, or even like you?"
"I can."
George couldn't help chiming in. "I have several brothers like that."
"So do I."
The young lieutenant glanced at George. "The brothers I grew up with and I have nothing in common. The brothers I have on the battlefield are my real family.
"No matter where we are, we live and die together.
"But here, I can only be alone.
"I've tried to fit into life here, to live like an ordinary person. I've tried finding work.
"But I can't find any.
"I have countless dreams in this life, many things I want to do, but none of them are here."
