Background / History

At the emergence of the Sovereignheads, an Overgod transmitted information about them to every God-level powerhouse who had ascended independently. Seventy-seven Sovereignheads then descended upon the four Supreme Planes, setting off a struggle in which most of the earliest God-level powerhouses died 68.

Four Overgods are known, corresponding to Destruction, Life, Death, and Destiny 126. Their token missions give a person who collects three matching tokens an audience and one request, provided the Overgod can fulfill it 126 143.

Abilities & Authority

Token missions and requests

• Three matching Overgod Tokens can summon the corresponding Overgod. The tokens are described as indestructible 126.
• Upon Linley’s completion of the Death mission, the Death Overgod offered him one request within its capabilities 143.
• The Death Overgod could not provide Linley with a cultivation plan surpassing the universe. The Overgod of Fate likewise could not make Of an Overgod; both described the perfection of laws or rules as the limit of normal cultivation 126 143.

Overgod Artifacts

• Completed missions can yield Overgod Artifacts for attack, physical defense, or soul defense. A matching-attribute attack artifact amplifies attack power a hundredfold 126.
• Of chose a soul-defense artifact from the Overgod of Fate 126.
• Linley chose a physical-defense artifact from the Death Overgod 143.

Restrictions on Sovereigns

• Sovereigns who damage a Material Plane are said to face obliteration by an Overgod 119.

Story Role / Major Arcs

• The first Sovereigns — An Overgod’s transmission announces the Sovereignheads before their descent and the ensuing struggle 68.
• Of’s revelation — Of tells the assembled Sovereigns about his audience with the Overgod of Fate, the limits of normal cultivation, and the types of artifacts available through token missions 126.
• The Life and Destruction missions — The Life Sovereign summons the Life Overgod and obtains an attack sword; Uthred later gathers the Destruction tokens and obtains an artifact 130 133.
• Linley’s Death mission — The Death Overgod appears after Linley merges three Death tokens. Unable to grant his requested cultivation plan, it allows him to choose a physical-defense artifact 143.
