On September 4, 1925, Queen Wilhelmina issued an appeal to all veterans and discharged soldiers, asking them to return to the army and take part in suppressing the revolt among the natives of the Dutch East Indies.

Queen Wilhelmina specifically promised that the army would not be casually downsized after the revolt was suppressed, and that the veterans would continue to receive their former salaries after rejoining.

For those veterans and discharged soldiers, this was good news. After all, with the unemployment wave affecting the Netherlands, finding a high-paying, stable job was no easy matter.

Being a soldier was already one of the more stable professions in the Netherlands. Coupled with Queen Wilhelmina's personal promise, it truly prompted many veterans to return to the army, setting off a rush to enlist.

To avoid causing a misunderstanding with Australasia, and to buy more time, the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs initiated negotiations, requesting that the suppression campaign be extended to more than five months.

Director Daze did not dare make a decision on the Dutch people's request without authorization, and could only report it to Arthur.

"Extend the suppression campaign to more than five months?" Arthur turned his gaze toward Director Daze and asked, "Has the Dutch Government lost its mind?"

Australasia was clearly the one making demands of the Netherlands. Where had the Dutch found the nerve to turn around and make demands themselves?

"Tell the Dutch Government that if they don't take action as soon as possible, the Australasian Army won't mind protecting its own people personally," Arthur said.
