Assassinating Roosevelt

If someone mentioned President Roosevelt in America now, Americans would immediately think of Theodore Roosevelt, who had ruled the nation over a dozen years ago.

The Roosevelt family had a history of over 200 years in America, producing not only a president but also multiple upper-elite politicians.

This was not merely a political family, as they were heavily involved in banking and finance as well. Theodore Roosevelt's father was a renowned import-export merchant and banker, which made the Roosevelt family one of the most famous in America, commanding wealth that ordinary people could scarcely earn.

Yet all of this changed with the onset of the economic crisis. The hardest-hit sectors during the crisis were the import-export industry and finance, and as it happened, the Roosevelt family was involved in both.

This threw the Roosevelt family into massive turmoil, and the illustrious family nearly faced bankruptcy.

Had it not been for some of the connections President Roosevelt had left behind for the family, the Roosevelt family would likely have vanished into American history just like those bankrupt multi-millionaires.

The life of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the nephew of President Theodore Roosevelt, had also been slightly affected.

Naturally, relying on the Roosevelt family's connections, Franklin D. Roosevelt's work not only remained entirely unaffected, but his income also surpassed that of the overwhelming majority of Americans.

The currently renowned President Roosevelt was still an ordinary lawyer in New York. Because he had contracted poliomyelitis a few years prior, Roosevelt's wife sometimes attended Democratic Party meetings in his place.

If history had remained unchanged, Roosevelt would have become the Mayor of New York in a year and secured the presidency by proposing the New Deal plan in the next presidential election.

Yet in this world, all of this was clearly no longer possible to happen.
