"Ah!"
The man screamed. With the Ancient Witch's Golden Necklace working together with the Bordeaux Candle, Shade's Silver Moon Slash had nearly split the man's entire head in two.
But he still did not die. Even as he screamed, he swung his sword to block the short knife thrust from behind by the weakened Miss Annette. Then his body shot upward, skimming beneath the canopy overhead as he tried to fly out of the room like a giant bat.
But no matter how fast he flew, he could not be faster than light. The curved blade of light caught up to him from behind and cut down the enormous shadow that had taken flight.
The man crashed heavily onto the ground. The blood-red longsword in his right hand vanished, while the Maze Candle in his left rolled away. The Blood Mist billowing around him forced Miss Annette to retreat.
"No, no, I can't be injured here! That tree... No! Damn it! I can't be injured here."
"Detective, something is wrong with him. Be careful."
Miss Annette warned him. Her short hair hung messily behind her head, and there was a shallow bloody mark on her face. Shade had never seen this lady in such a bedraggled state. It seemed that while Shade had been confronting the Silver-Eyed One, the battle outside had been equally fierce.
"I know. You should be careful too. That tree—"
"Ha ha."
Laughter rose again from beneath the tree, and the dark blue vines once more illuminated the man below it.
"Silver-Eyed One!"
Miss Bayes barely managed to suppress the urge to throw a Sunlight Gun at him.
"This damned thing, this damned Blood Spirit School! You were injured here! You're finished too! The Corpse Tree won't spare anyone."
The man beneath the tree laughed wildly.
