As he spoke, Shade looked up at the maid's face again.
Though the black-haired girl did not know the exact condition of Shade's eyes at the moment, she still quickly covered her cheeks.
"Mr. Hamilton, then let me try it too. I've never heard of a potion with such effects."
Shade thought for a moment and nodded.
"Sure, but the potion's effects do not last very long. I can already feel them fading."
He looked at Miss Servit's nose again.
"Do all Witches have such good skin? Every Witch I've met seemed to have very nice skin. Look, your pores are so even, and the blackheads on your nose—"
Seeing the sharp look in her eyes, Shade sensibly stopped talking.
The black-haired girl then put a drop of the potion in her own eye. Though she had no Thaumaturgy related to the eyes, she could still feel the improvement to her vision.
Since different Ring Arcanists experienced basically the same sensation, this way, they could roughly conclude that the ophthalmologist, Mr. Alfred, was absolutely not a Ring Arcanist.
Even if such a rare potion were being tested, it would not be wasted on an ordinary person, and that doctor had not even collected it afterward. Though Shade could not directly appraise the potion, the half-bottle currently in hand would probably still find buyers on the black market even at a thousand pounds, based solely on the effects they had discovered so far.
The musician born blind had probably been cured with this potion as well. But Shade guessed that a larger quantity had been used during the treatment. That was why, after regaining his sight, he saw the truth of the world even more "clearly," and then walked toward death in madness.
Knowing more was not necessarily a good thing.
