"This is bad."

After adding a spell to the Priest as well, Shade laboriously took out that little book again. Using it required paying a price, so he did not dare write anything too excessive. Instead, he dipped his finger in the blood he had spat out and wrote on the blank page:

"Even if savage and evil power puts me to sleep, I will awaken at the proper moment."

He did this to prevent himself from passing out as well, leaving no one to take everyone and escape. Using such a precious relic this way was certainly wasteful, but this was the safest statement he dared write using a Keeper of Secrets Level relic.

He could have written, "Shade defeats the evil god," but the price of that would probably send him to see Detective Sparrow immediately.

Behind the Doctor, the brass metal ring with its pentagonal cross-section spun faster than ever before. Four differently colored Spirit Runes drifted above the Destiny Ring, but the Doctor continued to retreat. He was nearly unable to hold on as well.

"Why are you here?"

Equally startled by Shade's appearance, and seeing that all his companions had fallen, the Doctor gritted his teeth and used his body to block Shade's view:

"Shade, I have never told you about the strongest power of Ring Arcanists. By all rights, you should not know of it yet. But there is no other way. Watch my power carefully. After using it, I may fall unconscious. If I win, remember to take us all..."

A silver flash emerged
