The soundproofing in the music hall was excellent, but the symphony being performed could still be heard backstage.
Doctor Schneider and Shade had officially blended in, posing as music enthusiasts visiting renowned musicians. For the time being, they did not need to worry about their identities being exposed.
The two made their way up the small staircase on the eastern side of the music hall to the second floor. Although the Doctor could roughly sense the location of the Demon he had marked, the target already knew it was being tracked, so his perception could not be too precise. He could only confirm that the Demon was in one of six rooms. The six rooms faced one another in pairs and could be seen after turning into the corridor. People bustled through the hallway, carrying performance costumes or loudly reminding musicians about to go onstage to finish preparing their makeup.
Besides orchestra members and music hall coordinators, there were also people like Shade and the Doctor who had come backstage to visit musicians. Although being allowed backstage was no easy matter, Tobesk lacked no people of status.
This made the six rooms chosen by the Doctor appear especially lively.
Though there were many people, that was also part of the Doctor's plan. He tossed Shade a straw doll bound with hay and gave him a meaningful look before heading toward the three rooms on the left. Shade looked toward the three rooms on the right.
They first needed to confirm the Demon's location. Splitting up was much more convenient than acting together.
Of the three rooms on the right, the first was a public dressing room. When Shade entered, he saw rows of Dressing Tables placed side by side. Musicians preparing to go onstage were hurriedly applying their final touches
