Standing amid the white mist that seemed to glow, Shade thoughtfully gripped the cold oval ice crystal. Its bone-chilling temperature stung his palm, reminding him that this special memento ultimately belonged to him now.
Looking up, he saw a giant tree in the white fog, connecting heaven and earth. Its roots were sprawling, its crown lush, and the rings within its transparent trunk recorded stories of time and ages.
Though there was no wind, its branches and leaves still swayed in the white mist. A warm sensation washed over Shade's body and soul, sweeping away all negative conditions.
"But can Miss Chloe's journey truly be repeated? Or rather, can someone else's Demigod Road be walked a second time?"
Shade asked himself. Then he saw two leaves overlapping as they drifted down from the swaying canopy.
