Shade did not know whether they truly believed that or whether it was merely the stubbornness of children with incomplete minds, but he knew this was not the time for such nonsense:

In the very next instant, the two princes floating before Shade nearly turned into light as they shattered through the window and flew outside. Once the glass fragments ceased touching them, they froze in the air again in a splattered pattern. The Time Acceleration applied to themselves was astonishing, but not astonishing enough to surpass Shade's Laguerre's Leap, whose range had expanded to one hundred meters.

Though he had not brought any relics, he had brought easily concealed Spellcasting Materials.

In the garden outside the window, Shade grabbed the blanket floating in midair and gave it a fierce yank. The two princes wrapped within were flung out, flying in opposite directions.
