Shade frowned as he pondered this.
A full three hours had somehow passed since Shade arrived at the Accordion Hotel, so it was already afternoon. Shade had no idea what pattern governed these shifts in time, but the matter of Miss Winslet's Room 321 clearly remained unresolved, because it was still a blank space within his Enhanced Space Perception.
The white fog in Room 317 was gradually dispersing, but when Shade unconsciously glanced out the window, he discovered that the entire city of Vesta within his field of view was shrouded in this hazy mist.
Ordinary people on the streets clearly still could not see the fog, so the streets remained lively. It seemed the audience was entering for the afternoon performance of the Golden Hall Concert.
When Shade opened the door and led Miss Danist into the hallway, only Miss Bell, the Witch Apprentice, remained in the fog-filled corridor.
She was astonished to see Shade and Miss Danist emerge from Room 317:
"You're out! Is it resolved?"
"Only the matter in 317 has been resolved. What's going on with the fog outside?"
Shade asked. Miss Bell looked confused for a moment before answering:
"I still can't see the fog you mentioned, but it should be spreading outward as time passes, right? I was worried someone might see the fog and trace it here, but no one has appeared yet."
According to "her," the fog beneath their feet was not physical matter, but a phenomenon caused by time affecting space. Therefore, it did not flow, but slowly grew while remaining still. Since Miss Danist could see it as well, Shade was certain
