Shade and Iluna wore solemn expressions. Aside from the powerful illusion concealing this place, the temple itself had little power left, yet they still showed it respect.
Just as Shade was about to step onto the stairs, Iluna stopped him again:
"According to how these stories go, if we barge into ruins like this, won't we release some kind of monster?"
Shade examined the temple ruins, which coexisted harmoniously with nature. Autumn gold adorned the place.
"You have a point. I'll take control—Moon's Thorn!"
"Then I'll clear the area—Sunlight Shines Everywhere!"
As the two stepped onto the first stair, Tri-Color Moonlight thorns rustled up from beneath the fallen leaves, winding around the surrounding trees and completely enclosing the ruins. Iluna tossed the warm yellow orb of light that had appeared in her hand above the temple. It eventually stopped in midair and shone scorching light downward.
Shade and Iluna only found the light hot and dazzling, but it was actually a divine art capable of inflicting area-wide damage upon evil. However, there seemed to be no targets within the temple.
They passed through the doorway and arrived before the altar. Some worn sacrificial items still remained around it: pottery shards, rusted metal vessels, and bundles of long-dried herbs. Even with the temple's power, they were on the verge of completely vanishing.
Shade could hardly imagine how long ago they had been left there. He therefore took several bouquets from his pocket and placed them beside the herb bundles together with Iluna.
When they looked up again, the temple's remaining power seemed to have been awakened by them.
Autumn sunlight streamed through gaps in the leaves onto the altar, casting mottled patterns of light and shadow. A gentle breeze brushed past, bringing the rustle of leaves. The entire scene was quiet
