Miss Ghost complained to Sylvia somewhat unhappily:

Miss Bethany could only leave through the window. She poked her elder sister:
"Today is my funeral. I'm not even sad, so you don't have to be so sad either. It looks like I really am leaving this time. Help me take care of little Albert. I'll think of you in the world over there too, elder sister Margaret."
Hearing that form of address made Margaret feel even worse. Though she had known Miss Bethany only briefly, she had truly come to see her as her younger sister:
"I'll take good care of him. I'm sorry, but whether it's for you or for everyone else, I really can't keep you here this time."
