The final stop of the day was to leave the coast and enter the snow mountain region.
Heading from the coast toward the center of the island, following the increasingly towering silver-white mountain forests, all traces of human activity vanished completely. Like the tribesmen beneath the snow mountain, the people living by the sea regarded Fatumonst Snow Mountain as a "Holy Mountain," and thus rarely approached the mountain foot.
What Shade wanted to find this time was where the Magic Potion Merchant had been attacked. Others investigating the matter only knew the general area, but Mr. Mortis had provided Shade with a relatively precise location and knew what had happened at the time:
"He was attacked while gathering herbs in the mountains. The last time I saw him, he said the enemy had appeared behind him as though out of thin air. You can follow the herb-gathering route map I gave you and search for traces along the way, but it has been snowing constantly these past few days. Those traces have probably disappeared long ago."
On an untouched, primordial snow mountain like this, entering the mountains was extremely difficult without a guide or familiarity with the terrain.
Fatumonst Island itself was quite large, so after leaving the coastal reefs, Shade flew toward the place Mr. Mortis had indicated. The mountain pass leading into the mountains was easy enough to find, but as the Sun gradually sank westward, snowflakes began drifting down thickly.
At the mountain foot on the South Slope of the Snow Mountain lay vast stretches of undeveloped primeval forest, and the terrain, low in the south and high in the north, was exceptionally rugged. If not for Enhanced Space Perception helping him navigate, even Shade would have had difficulty finding the mountain pass Mr. Mortis had pointed
