What the enshrined serpent's shedding was went without saying. According to Claire's description, the Snake Skin Scroll beneath the altar did not contain information left behind by predecessors for later generations. Rather, it recorded a ritual called "Grace of the Snake's Tongue."
The ritual involved using herbs and other materials to coat the surface of the body, then using the ritual to make a person shed their skin like a snake. After molting, it could remove injuries and cursed conditions. Judging from the description on the Snake Skin Scroll, although the ritual was not omnipotent, it worked on most physical injuries and cursed conditions.
"The meanings of snake shedding and rebirth are often treated as equivalent in mysticism. But this method of making someone molt like a snake... If I remember correctly, when investigating organizations related to 'Snake,' wasn't there an organization active in the south of the Old Continent before the year 1200 of this era, called the Scale Shedding Society? It became famous for studying snake molting in hopes of finding a path to immortality?"
Shade asked, and Claire nodded:
"Yes, but that society disappeared around three hundred years ago. My ancestors encountered them. They came to this island, then for some unknown reason suffered devastating losses. The last few members eventually joined the tribe and became part of us. I have never seen this secret art before, but it looks like the result of their research."
The Fatu People did not reject outsiders joining their tribe. Claire's father, Professor Reinhart, and their neighbor, Mrs. Otto, who had waited her entire life for her missing husband, were both outsiders who had joined the tribe.
It was not particularly rare for a Ring Arcanist organization that had vanished long ago to have left something behind somewhere for unknown reasons.
