Shade lowered his voice slightly as he reached this point:
"The assassins from the first attempt on the King came from complicated backgrounds, but the assassins who attacked Queen Diana the second time really were Gray Gloves members. The second group committed suicide while being pursued. This time, Military Intelligence Section Six is probably determined to pull out every 'nail' in Tobesk."
But this had nothing to do with Shade. No matter whom Military Intelligence Section Six investigated, they would never trace it back to "Gray-headed Eagle II." Larus III was the one vouching for Shade.
Major Rades let out a long sigh:
"Is this what wartime is like? I'm honestly worried that the escort fleets of the two delegations might start fighting directly at Fatumonst Island and completely ignite a full-scale war. We received orders tonight that our ships are to temporarily sail out to the Outer Sea, far from the coast, for drills. That's highly unusual. I have no idea what happened again."
Shade reassured him:
"Don't worry about the two countries going to war here. Something else important is happening on this island recently. The Church will not allow disputes between secular powers to affect it."
As they spoke, two more strangers entered the tavern. The man in front wore a hat and kept a low profile, while the person following him was clearly a bodyguard or guard of some sort.
The two strangers sat in a corner on the other side of the tavern. Major Rades glanced over there as well:
"I feel like I've seen that guard somewhere before. Is he the guard of some important Kasonlik figure?"
The hat-wearing man was obviously Prince Samuel Anjou. They had likely come here to wait for someone as well.
Shade shook his head.
"Not our concern."
