Lady Helena Carter's soul had separated from the Curse-Eroded Great Tree her body had become, taking the form of a "seed" through a ritual granted by the Tree Father. But just as Shade had anticipated, a seed carried within an egg could not yet be considered a true life.
Even so, both of them were already immensely satisfied with the outcome.
Shade went to light the fire and cook. Daniste, who clutched the egg tightly and refused to let go, told Shade about what had happened in her dream last night:
"After you made your spirit resonate with the spirit inside the tree, both you and the Curse-Eroded Great Tree stopped moving. Then you and the tree began to glow together, and all of the tree's curses flooded into you. I took that chance to complete the ritual. There were eight Dragon Eggs in total, but only this one succeeded.
"After you absorbed the curses, the Curse-Eroded Great Tree eventually shrank to a height of twenty meters and lost its ability to move, directly putting down roots where it stood. Your body returned to normal and fell from the sky, so I hurriedly caught you."
Sitting beside the fire, Daniste gently stroked the shell of the enormous egg.
"After that, I don't know what happened. When I regained consciousness, I was already sitting up in the tent. You know everything that happened afterward."
After speaking, she asked Shade worriedly:
"So you freed Teacher's soul by absorbing the Curse-Eroded Great Tree's curses, right? I can't sense any traces of curses on you now, but are you really all right?"
"Of course I'm fine. It isn't my first time absorbing a Time Curse."
