The carriage was extremely quiet. With Shade's exceptional physical abilities, and the enhancement to his hearing from Echoes of the Past while in the state of God's Radiance, he vaguely caught several Kasonlik words, though not clearly:
"What did she say?"
The maid said, "Your Highness, people from Military Intelligence Section Six have been spotted around the station."
"Hm? How could you hear that?"
The whisper continued by his ear:
"If you can see in directions you cannot see, can you not hear sounds you cannot perceive?"
What she said made perfect sense. Shade himself had caught part of the conversation, so it was understandable that the more perceptive Another Me had heard more:
"But Military Intelligence Section Six? Your Highness?"
His eyes widened slightly, though his expression remained unchanged as he said:
"Your Highness, you did not need to address me so formally just now."
He then asked:
"Also, has something happened?"
"Talents like you, who serve the nation, are worthy of my respect."
The Lady behind the screen spoke faster than before. Clearly, she had not expected Military Intelligence Section Six to appear here.
But Shade could understand it. Although Director Anlos had not learned the specific delivery location from Shade, he at least knew it was connected to Middlesburg. If their investigation had been thorough enough, it was possible they had stumbled upon the fact that something was wrong with this train.
"Mr. Gray-headed Eagle, leave first."
