The joy of defeating the Flame Demon and obtaining the Demon Hunter's longsword brought the first week of the Month of Withered Leaves to a perfect close. But the next day, Monday, Shade had to face the troubles in his hands once more.
The Doctor arrived very early, and Shade had him go straight into the Darkness Gate in the basement. Before breakfast, Shade used the Poetry Manuscript Paper in his hand to send a letter to the librarian, the "Red Moon Witch," Miss Danist, explaining that he had obtained the Yellow Moon Spirit Rune.
The reply happened to arrive after Shade had finished breakfast. After some simple preparations, he used the Four-Chair Undead Ritual to project himself once more from Saint Derain Square to the Academy Library in the Far North.
As soon as Shade appeared, the two Saint Byron's students assisting with the ritual immediately left. Shade turned to watch their retreating figures and noticed that a small bat symbol was floating above one of their heads, indicating that he was also Bloodkin.
"The Academy actually accepts Bloodkin as students?"
He curiously asked the Thirteenth Ring Sorceress seated on the long sofa. The two were now in an open area at the center of the quiet, empty library. Bookshelves of varying heights stretched into places Shade could not see, while a Star Chart was painted overhead, along with a metal spherical astrolabe hanging from the ceiling.
The astrolabe, which Shade could not understand at all, slowly rotated, its scattered points of light leaving trails across the ceiling.
Perhaps because it was still early, there were not many footsteps in the library. Even diligent Ring Arcanists probably would not come to the Academy Library to study at seven in the morning.
"Yes, a Bloodkin clan lives in Saint Byron's."
