The sound of an airplane in flight was very distinctive.

It was like a tangible layer of sound waves roaring toward them from afar.

At first, the sound wasn't actually harsh, much less violent. It was like something trembling faintly beside their ears, so faint that they couldn't even tell it was the sound of an airplane flying.

As the plane drew closer and closer, the sound that initially hadn't seemed to affect them began to reveal its power.

The sound changed from something intangible into something tangible. It pressed down on everyone's heart, weighing on their chests until even breathing became difficult!
