The major officer looked at him. "You're a university professor. You should understand the Empire's laws better than anyone else."
"Sometimes, given the nature of our work, suspicion alone is enough!"
The major officer walked around to face him and stood beside his wife.
He gripped Kao Si Kao's wife by the chin and lifted her head.
He cast a sidelong glance at Kao Si Kao's wife before turning his gaze back to Kao Si Kao. "I don't know who you are. Based on the evidence we've gathered, there's nothing wrong with your record. The only thing worth suspecting is the period you spent studying in Sedolas."
"You'd better leave that question for yourself, then answer me instead of asking me."
"At least that way, you and your family can retain the most basic dignity."
After a long silence, Kao Si Kao pushed up his glasses. "I'm nobody. I'm simply Kao Si Kao."
The major officer nodded. "It seems you're unwilling to cooperate. Then I'm sorry, Professor Kao Si Kao. You may come to hate me and everything I do next, but I hope you can understand me as well."
"Because everything I do is for the Imperial Emperor, for the Empire!"
The major officer took a deep breath and looked at the others. "Take them all away. Seal the house completely and search every inch of this place!"
