Sanchez, sitting on the sofa, looked utterly miserable. He raised his sleeve to wipe away the blood from his nose, pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, and had just lit one and taken a drag when the person in front of him snatched it away and threw it onto the floor.

The sparks arcing through the air flared at their brightest for a fleeting instant before going out.

He stared blankly at the cigarette butt for a moment, then a fist yanked him back from some vague, ethereal thoughts.

He covered his face and collapsed into the sofa, but soon sat upright again.

Someone was gripping his hair. If he didn't sit up straight, it would hurt.

"You lied, Sanchez. You told us it was August fifteenth, but that was actually the wrong date."

The liaison officer looked at Sanchez with some disappointment. "I thought we would become friends, but I never expected you to betray our friendship."

Sanchez couldn't help laughing. He looked at the Federation people around him, then touched the injuries on his face. "You call this 'friendship'?"

The liaison officer didn't seem embarrassed at all. He nodded once. "You were the one who betrayed our friendship first."

"Before this, we fulfilled all your demands: cigarettes, Ghost Face Mushroom, and all kinds of women, in large numbers. Whatever we could get, we provided for you."

"But our sincerity was repaid with shameless, despicable deceit. Sanchez, I'm very disappointed!"

The liaison officer glanced at the soldier beside him. The soldier grabbed Sanchez's hand and placed it on the coffee table, then planted one foot on it.

Sanchez began struggling, but the fist taught him once again how to behave like a human being.

His expression changed as well. He was no longer as indifferent as before
