Skarsin 413, a rifle produced by Skarsin Industries, had an effective killing range of 1,200 meters, with the farthest confirmed kill at over 1,300 meters.
Its bolt-action design made it somewhat heavier than other rifles, but not so heavy that people could not support it.
On the battlefield, it was hailed as the Grim Reaper's Scythe (that was the arms manufacturer's own claim; in reality, Skarsin 413 had never participated in a war). Outside of war, it was known as the "Lion Killer"! The name came from its outstanding performance in hunting. Even when facing a male lion, it guaranteed the hunter's safety and a successful kill.
The rifle had already been added to the export catalog and had been phased out of the Federal Army's equipment.
It was not phased out because its performance or shooting accuracy had fallen behind. Rather, the new design had split this firearm into two types.
One was a semi-automatic assault rifle for short- to medium-range use. The other was a heavier rifle with a greater range and more stable performance, designed purely for sniping.
Although, in some respects, this rifle had already been rendered obsolete—it could not fire in bursts, and its accuracy had certain issues during long-range sniping—that did not stop it from becoming one of the better-selling weapons in the Federation's export market.
Its affordability was the secret to its success. For Anti-Government Armed Forces and members of extremist organizations, it was one of the best choices available.
For armed groups outside the control of any government, cheapness meant that the rifles would not consume too much of their funds, preventing their opposition campaigns from becoming deadlocked due to financial problems.
That was why this rifle could be seen everywhere.
