The Dandelion Type Cluster Bomb was an improved model, with the triggering method of its submunitions optimized.

Each Dandelion aerial cluster bomb could scatter one hundred new submunition bombs within a diameter of one hundred meters centered on the point of impact as it fell.

Each of these submunition bombs was loaded with 2.25 pounds of high explosive and half a pound of steel pellets, minimizing the damage it caused to buildings and other shelters.

It was even difficult for one to destroy a sturdy building on its own.

But the damage it inflicted on any living creature was devastating!

Tens of thousands of tiny steel pellets would instantly fill the entire area, shooting into the bodies of anything unable to stop them.

Whether it was a person or anything else! If the purpose of heavy aerial bombs was to destroy cities as thoroughly as possible and inflict crude casualties on crowds, then the Dandelion was designed to efficiently kill living creatures! Even more frighteningly, not all of its submunition bombs would necessarily detonate. Their final safety mechanism had also been redesigned.

Put simply, after hitting the ground, it would trigger the final safety mechanism. Then it would bounce to a certain height. As it bounced, the safety would be fully disengaged, triggering the explosion.

But if it merely landed on the ground without bouncing—for example, if it fell into soft mud or sand, or simply landed on a lawn and became embedded in the soil—

then it would not explode! However, its safety would remain in the disengaged state. As long as someone picked it up and allowed the spring inside to move, it would explode immediately!

To a certain extent, this optimization was vicious, because even cities in this era still had plenty of unpaved ground.
