Momo sat across from Lin Qi, reporting on her work over this period. Naturally, she had to mention the newly established News Administration.
Lin Qi nodded, signaling for her to continue.
"Now the Federal Government requires us to follow wartime conduct guidelines when broadcasting the news. Before airing reports involving certain uncertain factors, we're supposed to contact the News Administration first."
"Only after they approve can we broadcast them. If we air news without their approval, or if..."
She pursed her lips. "It causes certain unforeseen consequences, then we might be sued."
As she spoke, she handed Lin Qi a document. "These are their standards."
Lin Qi casually flipped through several pages. They were all regulations about what could and couldn't be broadcast.
They only clearly defined what carried absolutely no responsibility and what absolutely couldn't be broadcast. Anything controversial or not covered by those categories required a separate inquiry to the News Administration to determine whether it could be aired.
After setting down the document, Lin Qi asked, "So what's your problem?"
If this were the only issue, he believed Momo wouldn't have come to him on her own.
There had to be something else.
Just as Lin Qi expected.
"After the other people in our industry received the notice... You know, those of us who work in news care most about truth and timeliness!"
"Now that they've done this, we'll definitely have to submit sensitive news for review in advance. That could very well delay its timeliness."
"If they're dissatisfied with the content, we might even have to compromise the truth of the news!"
