"Mr. Lin Qi..."
Senator Landon took the initiative to greet everyone on their behalf. His position was special.
Lin Qi smiled and nodded, then greeted the others before sitting down on a separate sofa.
"I know why you're here!"
With his very first sentence, he exposed what was on their minds.
Then he smiled and said, "But you'll have to let me catch my breath and smoke a cigarette."
He had the young maid pour him some water, but before she could do it, a congressman hurried into the kitchen and poured Lin Qi a glass himself.
Lin Qi had just put the cigarette between his lips when Senator Landon bent over, stuck out his rear, and lit it for him.
Looking around, this was hardly Lin Qi's villa. It was practically a "miniature Congress"! He took two puffs, drank some water, and seemed to finally relax.
"You must trust the President's orders. Everything will be based on factual evidence. The situation will not spread."
"Over the years, the collusion between congressmen and capital has grown increasingly severe."
"It's not just us. Even the homeless people on the streets know that something shady must be going on between congressmen and capitalists."
"I admit that much, but not everyone is like me or like you, without much personal interest in this country."
Some people froze when they heard that. They had still been somewhat embarrassed and red-faced, but their expressions now became indescribably strange.
Lin Qi spotted a congressman standing toward the back of the crowd. He pointed at him and wagged his finger twice. "Don't laugh. I'm telling the truth."
"I have never asked you to tilt things in my favor when it came to protecting my personal interests, and I have basically never pushed bills filled with private desires."
