By mid-January, the war on the Peng Joe side had almost completely ground to a halt. It was simply too cold.
Two days earlier, a plane had suddenly plunged to the ground only a few minutes after takeoff, making people realize that if anything could stop the war, it had to be the weather!
The engineers at Blackstone Aviation had also inspected the aircraft models currently in service and concluded that the chances of one plunging during takeoff were so low they could practically be ignored.
But since the possibility existed, modifications were definitely necessary. Add to that the fact that neither attacking nor defending was easy in low temperatures, and both sides seemed to have agreed to a temporary ceasefire.
Lin Qi had also asked the engineers about it. The research institute's feedback was that some hydraulic equipment needed additional insulation.
At present, the aircraft were heated in the most primitive way possible: using the engine's heat to warm the fuselage.
As long as the engine kept running, the temperature would remain relatively high.
That was assuming the fuselage itself had suffered no damage.
If there were undetected problems in the fuselage, such as cracks that exposed the hydraulic lines,
the already-thin hydraulic lines could easily freeze in the cold wind, causing problems in the control system.
There were already solutions available. One was to replace the fluid in the hydraulic equipment with antifreeze.
The other was to add a layer of protection to the hydraulic equipment, then install a pipe to deliver hot air and ensure that the Hydraulic Fluid inside did not freeze.
These were all minor issues with readily available solutions, so Lin Qi did not ask about them further.
All his attention was focused on the armistice negotiations unilaterally proposed by the Peng Joe Empire.
