The boy was somewhat ill at ease.

He sat in front of Lin Qi, clasping his hands together and constantly shifting his posture.

He had discussed the matter with Vera, but she had not talked it over with him in detail. Instead, she had told him to think it over again.

Though she had said to think it over, they both understood the unspoken meaning: Vera did not care why he did not want to attend school, but he had to continue his education.

He knew he could not persuade his mother, but Uncle Lin Qi could. So he had come here.

He still felt somewhat uneasy facing Lin Qi. Although he felt that Lin Qi was a powerful man and someone easy to talk to, he simply found it a little... difficult to breathe when facing him! After stammering for quite a while, he finally said, "I want to make money and take responsibility for myself."

Having a child really did make people speak differently.

Lin Qi found it somewhat amusing. "Is the money your mother gives you not enough?"

As he spoke, he pulled a checkbook from his clothes. "Is a thousand enough?"

In truth, he had merely taken this to be a minor issue between mother and son caused by insufficient pocket money.

But the boy gathered his courage and looked up at Lin Qi. "Mom gives me three hundred a month, but I want to earn money myself."

"I can't rely on her forever. Besides, I'm already an adult. I should do something for my family."

In some countries, people were not considered adults until they were twenty, yet they could get married at sixteen. Sometimes, it was impossible to understand exactly what qualified someone as an adult.

Lin Qi did not dwell on the issue.
