People would always erupt with an unimaginable desire to survive when pushed into desperate situations.
That evening, the Previous Former President, who was watching the news, frowned at the phone that suddenly began ringing.
His suspicions had temporarily been cleared. The reason it was "temporarily" was that there was still no further evidence proving he had participated in the plot to assassinate President Truman.
But that did not mean he was safe.
Because the nature of this case was so egregious, compounded by the power struggles among the upper echelons and the conflicts between capitalists hidden behind it, it was not as easy to resolve as the presidential assassination cases of the past.
In previous presidential assassination cases, once they caught a killer and the killer provided some ridiculous but genuinely existent motive, the court could close the case.
For example, there had once been a presidential assassin who stood alive in the dock. When the judge asked him, "Why did you commit such a vicious act?" he answered in an even tone, almost as if he were boasting, "Because I wrote more than a dozen letters to the President, but he never wrote back. I felt that my dignity had been insulted. He looked down on me, so I'm going to kill him!"
What was even more outrageous was that some people actually thought he had a point!
The court and the justices then ruled the murder proven, and the man who had decided to assassinate the President because he had not received a reply became a part of history.
But whether he had truly come up with that idea solely because the President had not written back, nobody knew.
It just so happened that a bill was being deliberated at the time, and the bill had been proposed
