The people of the Federation's Upper Class were always telling ordinary people standing in the mud at the bottom that if they wanted to climb up, they had to work hard enough.
People believed it, especially after watching documentaries about CEOs who got up at five in the morning to exercise and work.
Ordinary people simply couldn't do that. So while they envied, resented, and hated the wealthy for their riches, they also compromised with their own poverty.
They knew they weren't hardworking enough and couldn't get up that early, so they had resigned themselves to their lives.
But if a television station filmed those who got up at five in the morning and dared to broadcast it, people would discover one truth—
Even if you got up at five in the morning, unless God had kissed you on the forehead, you would still be just like everyone else who couldn't get up at five. Nothing about your life would change.
You would still be treading water in the mud, and because of your efforts—because you were treading water harder—you would splash up more mud and get covered in more muck.
Until your life became even worse than before!
What the truth was never mattered. What mattered was what the people needed in order to accept their fate of being ruled, peacefully and obediently.
Everyone actually knew the answer: lies.
But the vast majority of people—ninety-five percent of them—chose to turn a blind eye.
Their compromise with life always began with regretting their past choices at some particular moment: If I had done that back then, would things be better now? Instead of considering, Should I change right now?
This truly concealed the truth about how to complete a class transition, because crossing social classes was actually not that complicated.
