The gentleman who hung up the phone looked furious, but behind that fury was a trace of uncertain unease.
The other managers beside him watched his somewhat strange expression and asked curiously, "What did they say?"
He replied, "They said... 'Bear the consequences yourself!'"
"Bear the consequences yourself?"
The gentlemen around him could not help laughing. They had remodeled the shelter and built some deadly fortifications at the entrance.
One of the directors who held the largest share of the shelter snapped his fingers, and an officer in military uniform stepped forward.
"...Colonel, tell our gentlemen whether our shelter is safe."
This officer had been invited here only after the director had spent a great deal of money and made numerous promises.
He had previously participated in the war against the Peng Joe Empire. As part of the Federal Army, he had fought to a point near the heartland of the Peng Joe Empire and possessed extremely extensive combat experience, including urban warfare.
In fact, by this point, there were quite a few soldiers and officers in the Federation with wartime experience, but there were not many with outstanding experience and exceptional performance.
This colonel was one of them.
Unfortunately, he had been unlucky. He belonged to Pelius's faction and had been on the side purged during the military's previous internal purge.
Because he had indeed contributed to the Federation, and because he had not been involved in certain actual military scandals, he had been released after explaining his own problems, having some of his bribe money confiscated, and spending two years in prison.
After his release, he had taken a position as a department manager at an ordinary security company, but he had never been able to rise any further.
His identity was his ceiling in this field. As
