This damn low temperature was truly lethal! Even wrapped in a blanket, the woman continued to tremble.
The heating had been restored, but the opening torn through by the missile was too large, and the heating systems on the top four floors had already collapsed. Even though these people had been assigned to areas where heating was still available, they still couldn't keep the cold from invading.
Her head was still buzzing.
In her memory, everything seemed to have stopped on the morning of the day before yesterday.
Not long after they had collected their food, the family had been enjoying a peaceful morning.
"Sunlight" rose from the ceiling, and everything seemed to be getting better. The restlessness belonging to the human world seemed to have returned to the city.
She hummed the little tune she used to sing as she stood by the stove. Breakfast was sandwiches, and the toaster they had brought with them when they came here had finally come in handy.
First, she toasted both sides of the bread until they were crisp and browned. Then she spread on some butter, laid down a layer of greens, fried the ground beef, spread it over the bread, and finally added a slice of fruit.
A perfect, flawless breakfast.
When the time reached eight-thirty, the whole family was already up. Just like one of the happy moments from the past preserved in their memories, they greeted one another before sitting down around the dining table.
Everyone enjoyed this rare breakfast, savoring the most beautiful of times as they chatted in relaxed voices.
"I heard the shelter is starting to prepare to recruit workers."
Her husband ate his breakfast in small bites. Unlike the children, who wolfed down their food, he understood how precious it was and knew it
