Several scientists who still seemed to lack a certain scientific air were conducting the most cutting-edge research in a quiet laboratory.

It was actually rather comical.

There were many laboratories belonging to major conglomerates outside that wanted to obtain biological specimens from monsters. Even when they offered astonishing prices, they still could not get any.

Those scientists could only pray all day that a sudden mutation would occur in one of the shelters under their jurisdiction, that it would go undiscovered, and that they would coincidentally find and capture it first, obtaining a specimen.

Most of the scientific instruments worth millions or tens of millions, or even more, were powered on but unused most of the time. Those proper scientists did not have all that much work to do, either.

But here, in a crude environment, with cheap instruments and several high-school biology teachers, they were researching something that the major laboratories and great scientists wanted to study but had never had the foundation to investigate—

Monster specimens.

Two of these biology teachers had not even studied biology at university.

Teaching for the Federation was not exactly a particularly good job, but there was still fierce competition for positions. In order to secure stable employment, one athlete and one history major had ultimately changed careers and become biology teachers.

Middle-school biology was not very complicated. Most of the time, it involved observation assignments—observing plants and animals. Only once students reached high school did they start fiddling with things like rabbits and frogs.

So as long as they had teaching materials and lecture notes, they could easily handle the job.
