To the people living in shelters, what did alien invaders and invasions have to do with them? They had nothing to do with their lives.
It was just like diplomacy.
Most of the time, diplomacy had no impact whatsoever on ordinary people's lives. This country establishing diplomatic relations with that country, their homeland being ostracized by some international organization, new changes in world trade due to regional politics, or abnormal fluctuations in the currency market...
These things sounded special and gave people the impression that they were very impressive, but that was all they were—impressive.
The workers beside the assembly lines would not receive higher wages or better benefits because of such things. Nor would they receive more or less pay just because the currency depreciated or appreciated.
Their lives would remain as monotonous and dull as before.
Perhaps they would feel excited for a brief moment under the incitement of politicians on political programs, but soon, the weight of life would bring them back on track.
Unless—
war broke out.

When the Alien Invaders on the moon and on the ground were wiped out in large numbers, people became even less worried.
Every enemy that could not defeat humanity would only make humanity greater.
