Lucia looked at the Vice President with a somewhat surprised expression. "You're not quite the same as last time."
The Vice President smiled. "We meet again, Ms. Lucia."
Lucia gave a slight nod in response to his greeting, then looked toward Balz. "So, what's the purpose of your visit?"
The Vice President had not appeared in Light of Life's employee introductions, so in Lucia's eyes, he was merely a "minor character," while the truly important figure was Light of Life's Chief Scientist here.
He wielded enormous authority and was the true decision-maker for Light of Life in this place.
The corner of Balz's mouth twitched. He could clearly feel that Lucia was facing him, and the hostility radiating from her had locked onto him as well. But he was completely innocent, in fact.
"We'd like to have a chat with you, and with the person behind you."
Neither side had any intention of attacking, at least not for now.
