How luxurious could an office be?

The gilded ceiling, natural crystal chandelier, bear and lion heads mounted on the walls, and two ivory tusks taller than a person displayed in the cabinet—such "simple" furnishings were enough to show how extravagant the room was.

However, like most offices, everything inside belonged to the company. Only a very small number of personal items belonged to the company employee who used the room.
