Speaking of Kolef...

Lin Qi thought of Gold Pure Color among the pure colors. That top-grade pure color came from a neighboring country, and its processing techniques were said to be extremely complicated.

The various components in top-grade tobacco leaves were present in higher concentrations than in ordinary tobacco leaves. As a result, if top-grade Kolef was made directly into finished cigarettes and smoked without treatment, it would leave an overly heavy astringent sensation and a spicy taste.

To alleviate this, they would briefly soak the tobacco leaves in milk while processing them, neutralizing the excessively irritating components so that people would not feel as uncomfortable when smoking them.

This had led to three varieties of top-grade Gold Pure Color Kolef.

Original flavor—after a brief soaking to neutralize those components, the leaves were dried in stages, rolled into Kolef, wrapped in gold foil, and packed into boxes.

Milky flavor—after a long soak allowed the fragrance of colostrum to permeate the tobacco leaves, they were dried in the shade. When smoked, they had a smoother taste and an obvious milky fragrance, but lacked the stimulation that high-end Kolef tobacco leaves should have.

Flavored—the leaves were given a second roasting after the first stage, with spices and even various famous liquors added to ensure that the flavors penetrated deep into the tobacco.

"Ancient Snake" and "Deep Crimson" were both outstanding varieties that were neither original-flavored nor milky.

Since high-end pure colors were all custom-made products, every high-end Gold Pure Color with its own name could be said to be unique.

Every year, the Federation consumed at least several hundred million, and sometimes over a billion, units of Kolef. That was why tobacco smuggling had become so rampant.

The enormous profits attracted smugglers from both inside and outside the
