Seeing the Red Dragon slaughtering freely and closing in step by step, Bennett finally made up his mind—this damned Magic-Loving Red Dragon was not an opponent he could face head-on. He could only abandon the adventuring party he had painstakingly recruited and leave this land of death.

"Damn it, I have to get out of here."

"Forgive me, everyone. I am still on the path of seeking truth." Bennett found himself a high-sounding excuse.

As a mage, he naturally had no shortage of means of escape.

Bennett removed the silver pendant from his chest. A delicate little door was engraved upon it.

"Dimensional Door."

He prayed to the Magic Goddess while chanting under his breath.

Magical radiance flickered across the pendant. The space beside Bennett immediately twisted and folded, and then a door-like Space Rift slowly emerged. On the other side lay Victoria Harbor, the familiar home he held dear.

Bennett's face lit up with joy, and he hurried toward the dimensional door.

"Wonderful, I can finally leave this hellhole—"

Before he could finish, the shadow of the Red Dragon's wings enveloped him. The Spell Invalidation Barrier surrounding its body ruthlessly smoothed out the nearby Weave. The Space Rift gradually healed and closed, the space stabilized, as though there had never been the slightest disturbance.

"Where do you think you're going?"

"Uninvited guest."

The Red Dragon looked down upon the mage, its enormous head appearing especially savage.

Bennett looked up at the Red Dragon. His hands gripping his staff trembled slightly, cold sweat poured down his forehead like it cost nothing, and he forced out a smile uglier than crying.
