The group of adventurers was a four-person squad composed of three humans and one dwarf. Aside from the sole female healer, the other two humans and the dwarf were all magic warriors, making for a somewhat unbalanced lineup.

They were being pursued by five mid-tier Icefield Wolves and were clearly in poor condition. The dwarf warrior's axe blade was chipped in several places, while the human captain's shield had twisted out of shape and was on the verge of being completely ruined. Without some stroke of luck, isolated and helpless on the Snowfields, they would surely have died.

Soon, Ivette emerged from the shadows and arrived not far from the four-person squad.

She then released a blue Rune Ring. A massive ice blade at least fifty meters wide, yet thin as a cicada's wing, swept across the ground in an instant, slicing all five tightly grouped Icefield Wolves cleanly in half.

From Icefang Squad's perspective, they saw only a faint pale-blue glimmer flash past, so fast it almost seemed like an illusion. Then, the upper bodies of the five Icefield Wolves came apart as though a stack of bowls had suddenly scattered. Their upper and lower halves separated instantly. Their abdomens and four legs toppled to the ground, while their upper bodies and savage wolf heads continued charging forward under inertia, sliding more than ten meters over the glass-like ice crystals at the severed surfaces and smearing five glaring streaks of crimson across the snow.

Deathly silence descended upon this stretch of Snowfields, broken only by the faint whimper of the cold wind passing over the icy cuts. All four members of Icefang Squad froze in place, every trace of color draining from their faces.
