Chapter 6: The Harmony of Soul and Body
"This is—"
Ye Qin subconsciously held his breath, staring in disbelief at the scene before him.
Soon, a layer of skin and flesh appeared before him, pale and delicate—human skin.
Then, the other toes grew flesh as well, spreading to the soles of the feet. In but a moment, a perfect pair of feet took shape before his eyes.
They were like the finest work of heaven, skin fair and flawless, without a single blemish, their shape so graceful, ten rounded toes lined up neatly.
Yet they inspired no hint of profane thought.
But when he looked higher, beneath a faint membrane, vivid red blood vessels writhed and tangled together, the flesh above them not yet formed.
It looked rather terrifying and gruesome. The stark contrast created a powerful visual shock.
The skin grew swiftly, blood and flesh spreading upward. The transparent skin tissue gradually took on a fleshy hue, as if someone were painting it layer by layer.
Soon, the white bone canvas gained other colors.
The calf grew flesh, the knee grew flesh, the thigh grew flesh, the lower body grew flesh, the middle—the five viscera and six organs—grew flesh, and even the organs gradually took shape.
Crimson threads became the bridges connecting the bones, allowing muscles to attach.
Bone-Growing Flesh Contemplation.
Flesh and blood sprouted from the bones, and a complete "person" slowly appeared before Ye Qin.
Yet this was not enough. Jet-black hair, like lush leaves in spring, quickly grew forth, wrapping around the lithe and graceful body.
Her entire skin radiated a jade-like luster, flawless in every way. Her elegant curves were displayed to perfection, hinting at a graceful charm, yet inspiring no profane thoughts—only a sense of sanctity.
Just from the silhouette, it was clearly the form of a woman.
Most importantly, there was a faint, almost imperceptible halo above her head. At a glance, it seemed like a Pure Glazed Body, crystal clear and transparent, filled with an indescribable Buddha-nature.
Who could have imagined that not long ago, this had been nothing but a pile of bones?
Ye Qin never expected that the true identity of this pile of bones before him was actually a woman!
He had thought it was a scholar earlier.
But the features of her face were somewhat blurred, a patch of light blocking them, as if veiled by a hazy white mist.
Though he couldn't see her face clearly, instinct told him she was undoubtedly beautiful. Ye Qin strained his eyes, trying to glimpse her true visage.
The woman stood there quietly, her hands forming a hollow fist, palms open with two index fingers slightly bent, each touching the middle segment of the middle fingers, then bending both thumbs to touch the lower segments of the index fingers.
This was the Samaya Dharani Mudra.
As if sensing Ye Qin's thoughts and gaze, she walked slowly toward him. Golden lotuses bloomed beneath her feet, surging forth in layers. Every movement was filled with Buddha-nature.
Lotus blooms with every step, graceful and enchanting—nothing more.
The woman's figure drew closer, and the Buddhist chants in his ears grew clearer.
Just a little more, and Ye Qin could see her features clearly.
A trace of desire stirred in his heart—he wanted to see what this fated person truly looked like.
"Thus know, thus see, thus believe and understand, give rise to no Faxiang."
A Buddhist chant came from the heavens, drifting into Ye Qin's ears, cleansing everything.
Golden lotuses surged forth, and through the gaps between the petals, he seemed to see countless bones piled together.
In an instant, his originally hazy eyes gradually cleared, and the initial longing in his heart faded away.
What does it matter if he sees clearly? What does it matter if he doesn't?
No matter how fair the skin, a hundred years later it will turn to bone, and finally a handful of yellow dust scattered among men.
Only the Dao is to be followed; only the mind is the foundation. Emptiness is form, form is emptiness. Illusions fade, coming and going in haste. The moon in the water, the wind in the trees. Contemplate thus, and nothing is obstructed.
All dharmas are empty in nature, neither arising nor ceasing, neither defiled nor pure, neither increasing nor decreasing.
A beauty turning to bone is but a snap of the fingers.
Thinking of this, Ye Qin's heart trembled inexplicably, as if suddenly enlightened. He seemed to sense something, slowly opening his eyes. Within his beast-like pupils was complete clarity, devoid of any desire.
Before him was still that pile of bones. Where was the vision of a woman walking with golden lotuses?
Reality or illusion—it often lies in a single thought.
White Bone Contemplation, contemplate the bones, flowing light appears, flesh grows forth.
In this moment, understanding dawned in Ye Qin's heart.
This was the Contemplation Method!
Contemplate all illusions, make them real within the mind.
He slowly lowered his head, contemplating his own body. In that instant, his sight seemed to flow unimpeded, without any obstruction.
Looking at a leopard through a tube, seeing the whole from a part.
Sight may be limited, but his thoughts were not.
The black snake's body was covered in scars, all kinds of marks, looking extremely terrifying. Between the pitch-black scales, it seemed as if white light flashed through, resembling the shape of bones.
At this moment, Ye Qin, through visualization, could clearly see the growth of the bones inside his body.
Immediately after, countless scales fell off, followed by the flesh and blood of his entire body, dropping piece by piece, leaving only white bones.
Unexpectedly, throughout the entire process, Ye Qin felt no pain at all.
Flesh and rot decayed, revealing the bones beneath. Even his entire body showed nothing but bones.
A complete snake skeleton appeared before his eyes.
Watching himself become like this, his beastly pupils remained calm, without any panic, letting everything take its course.
A snake's pupils seemed somewhat cold, or more precisely, it was a detachment that transcended the mundane world.
Ye Qin blinked slightly, and still, he was covered in scales scorched by lightning, without any change.
It was as if everything just now had been his illusion.
When leaves age, they fall, and then the branches sprout new buds. The cycle of life and death is merely a single thought away.
Ye Qin felt like a bare, large tree—this didn't mean the loss of vitality, but rather represented a rebirth.
As the saying goes, without breaking, there can be no establishing.
Flesh and rot decayed, revealing the bones beneath. Even his entire body showed nothing but bones.
Soon, all his scales and flesh fell off, and a complete snake skeleton transformed out.
At this moment, Ye Qin, through visualization, could clearly see the growth of the bones inside his body.
A snake's bones generally number between 100 and 400, connected by ball-and-socket joints, so each vertebra can move freely.
This is also why snakes are so flexible.
Ye Qin's snake body was small, so his skeleton was also very fine, appearing densely packed and evenly distributed. At first glance, it even shimmered with a glassy light.
Because of the severe injuries he had suffered before, many bones inside his body had varying degrees of damage, some places even broken, with blood stasis present.
But now, these bones seemed to be influenced by some mysterious force, slowly connecting with those nearby, while the blood stasis and impurities were expelled.
The entire skeleton was like a work of art.
