The Demon People Leader dissolved into a pool of black water. Leaderless, the Weird Beasts in the Demon Cave scattered and fled.
Li Yun stood where he was, gasping for breath, his body drenched in cold sweat.
He used Inner Vision to look within himself. Of the Saint-Grade True Qi in his Seven Hundred Twenty Apertures, only three apertures' worth remained. His oil was spent and his lamp nearly dry. If the Devil Master's Will had held on for three more seconds, he would have been the one to die.
"That was too close..."
He murmured the words, fear lingering in his heart.
But after the fear came an excitement he could not suppress.
That clash of wills had been perilous, but he had gained a great deal from it.
The Nascent Heaven's Will had been tempered in its struggle against the Devil Master's Will, becoming more substantial. More importantly, the Gate of Myriad Wonders had captured a trace of the Devil Master's Will, letting him glimpse the faint outline of the Primordial Demon Lord.
