"How could this happen?"
The assistant looked utterly incredulous. Dr. Wade shook his head. These demons were truly cunning; they had prepared for this in advance.
As the device ran, massive electromagnetic pulse waves swept through the tens of thousands of iron coffins beneath the laboratory like an energy storm, activating the life force of the corpses inside. At the same time, the magic array at the very bottom began operating.
"Get out of the way!"
Seeing that the assistant's method had failed, Annie shouted. Dr. Wade and the assistant hurried aside. Then Annie thrust both hands forward, blasting a ferocious torrent of electricity at the cylindrical device.
Even someone on Homelander's or Soldier Boy's level would not dare take such an attack head-on. If it hit, it would definitely destroy the device. Unfortunately, how could the Demon Prince have left such an obvious opening?
A dark shadow emerged from beneath the device and blocked its front. The electricity struck its body, only to vanish like a stone sinking into the sea, without eliciting the slightest reaction.
Annie did not stop. Instead, she increased her power and kept pouring it out. For one thing, she believed in her own strength. For another, she was drawing electricity from the laboratory.
Reviving tens of thousands of corpses was undoubtedly a massive undertaking, and one that required an enormous amount of energy. The more electricity Annie drew away, the less effective the device would become.
The shadow clearly knew this as well. With a loud roar, it sent the absorbed electricity surging out of its chest into Annie, blasting her backward and slamming her into the wall.
"Fuck."
Annie quickly jumped down from the wall. Just as she was about to attack again, the laboratory wall was cleaved open, and several figures charged
