Seeing the three women letting their imaginations run wild, Andrew tapped the table helplessly. "Hey, Ms. Samantha, I can understand those two youngsters getting carried away, but why are you doing it too?"
All three women were deeply embarrassed. Samantha immediately changed the subject. "Hasn't the food arrived yet?"
Andrew replied helplessly, "Of course it hasn't. You haven't ordered yet, ma'am."
Samantha grew even more embarrassed and hurried to order. As it turned out, her daughter had been right about everything. The tea really was excellent, and the spring rolls were delicious too. As for the other dishes, it wasn't that they were bad, but they really didn't suit her tastes.
Before the three women left, Andrew suddenly took out two protective charms. "Ashley, Blair, there's a dark shadow between your brows. Take these charms with you. They'll protect you."
"What does a dark shadow between our brows mean?"
Ashley looked puzzled. Then something occurred to her, and she quipped, "Uncle, even if you're trying to win a girl over, you can't possibly butter up two of us at once, can you?"
"Would I need to butter you up?"
Andrew looked thoroughly dismissive. "Take them. Just toss them in your bags. Your bags are bottomless pits anyway. You can throw anything in there."
"Thank you."
Blair accepted the charm and thanked him politely. She didn't actually believe it would do anything, but it was a kind gesture from a friend. Besides, it was small enough to carry without any trouble.
Seeing that, Ashley accepted her charm too, though she protested, "Why wouldn't you need to butter me up? Let me tell you, unless you treat me to ten meals, don't even think about getting me to go shopping with you."
