"Do you know what abilities are?"
Andrew stood in the middle of the Chinese restaurant's dining room and posed the question to the trainees.
Besides Ashley, Blair, and Rat Catcher, the trainees included Samantha, who had come specifically to attend the lesson. Tsunade sat off to one side, glaring at Andrew in annoyance. Clearly, she still hadn't let go of what had happened yesterday.
Rat Catcher asked in confusion, "Aren't abilities just abilities? What else could they be?"
"Uncle, you're asking where abilities come from, right? The generally accepted answer is genes. Every human carries ability genes, but those genes are recessive."
After awakening, Blair had carefully researched abilities, so she knew a little more. "Only a small number of people can awaken their ability genes and become ability users.
"Generally speaking, adolescence is the easiest time to awaken. Too early or too late, and awakening becomes difficult."
"That used to be true. Now it seems people can awaken at any age. Several more ability users awakened yesterday."
Samantha said, "But quite a few of the newly awakened ability users have very short tempers. One of them attacked a police officer just for asking a few extra questions. Luckily, I was there. Otherwise, he might have killed that officer."
Blair asked in surprise, "Isn't that a little strange?"
"Leave those matters to the big shots."
Andrew clapped his hands and said, "Abilities do indeed come from genes. I won't go into the details. You wouldn't understand them anyway."
Ability genes weren't ordinary genes. They were deeply connected to the origin of life in this universe. Andrew was tracing them back to their source in his research, but there was no need to tell Blair and the others about that.
"Keeping us in suspense again."
