The principal's words left Chriss and the others somewhat despairing, but that was not what frightened them most. What frightened them most was what Carrie (Mindy) quietly told them.

Mindy first said it with a giggle, then coldly added, "Just like what you did to me back then."
The moment Chriss imagined that scene, she wanted to kill herself. The entire internet would laugh at her and curse her, turning her into a despised outcast. No one would ever envy her, like her, or follow her again.
