Happy New Year—today, my family's mountain almost burned down.
I just got back from fighting the fire. I was exhausted, and I still hadn't eaten.
My aunt's husband was buried on our mountain. My cousin set off fireworks while paying respects, and a long while later, a fire broke out. By the time we ran up the mountain, we were panting for breath. After cutting off the firebreak, I sat on the ground for ages before I finally recovered.
It burned an area about the size of two or three houses. Luckily there was no wind today, or it would have been a huge disaster.
What was even funnier was that in the afternoon, they went to another mountain to pay respects to their uncle, and that one almost caught fire too.
