Some endings were written on tombstones.
Outside Profound Candle Prefecture lay Rebirth Cemetery.
This was a new cemetery. Its name naturally stemmed from the uprising on the night the Silverblood was burned away. Everyone believed that after that night, Profound Candle Prefecture had gained a new life, so they named this new cemetery "Rebirth," hoping that the righteous who were buried here could rest in peace.
Aside from the righteous who had died in the uprising, most of the dead were actually the families, servants, and guards of Silverblood merchants. However, once a person died, everything was extinguished like a lamp. Their bodies would also be transported to Rebirth Cemetery for burial—it was simply that no one would pay for coffins or tombstones for them.
Rebirth Cemetery had a gravedigger named Uncle Shou.
Most people were unwilling to work in a cemetery. The powerful spirits of the Radiant People would cause them to hallucinate in a cemetery at night, and prolonged mental fatigue could even shorten their lifespans. Uncle Shou, however, lived quite comfortably in the cemetery. He raised a dog, and every day he dug graves, carved tombstones, and read the newspaper.
Someone discovered that every morning, Uncle Shou would go deep into the cemetery and burn incense before two graves.
Those two graves had no names, only surnames.
One was the Jing grave.
The other was the Tai grave.
