Inside the dim cave, countless stalagmites pointed toward the vaulted ceiling like a forest, jagged and uneven. Even more stalactites hung down from the roof, intertwined with one another like abstract gaping mouths.
A cold wind blew from the end of the darkness, carrying the stench of rot and dampness, making people suffocate.
Under the lamps, those calcareous deposits showed a deathly pallor amid mottled, nauseating shards of refracted light.
Standing within it, even the strongest light seemed to fall into a dark maze with no end in sight. All one could feel was the bewilderment of being unable to see the road ahead, and the loneliness of being cast aside by the world.
Shadowy figures seemed to emerge faintly from the darkness.
Drip~
Another drop of icy liquid fell from a stalactite and landed beside his feet. The instant his gaze was drawn to it, another figure seemed to flash past in the corner of his eye. When he looked over, it had vanished once again.
The moment the powerful light swept over it, a pale smiling face poked out from behind a stalagmite and looked toward Ji Jue.
Ji Jue looked back at it.
A smile appeared on his previously expressionless face, even sunnier and more cheerful than its own, warm and enthusiastic.
The instant he waved, a roaring sound erupted.
The Peace Cats behind him instantly raised their weapons and pulled the triggers. Silver radiance poured forth like a torrential downpour, blasting that twisted stalagmite and the face upon it into tiny fragments in the blink of an eye.
Yet as the stalagmite shattered, that face seemed to evaporate and disappear.
Laughter sounded from afar, from every direction.
All around them, before and behind, left and right, identical hollow
