The instant the gunshot rang out.
At the very end of the bodyguard formation, Tong Shan, wearing sunglasses, sighed and flicked a finger. The steel spike that had just left the barrel immediately lost its target and veered skyward.
The attacker shouted, roared, and pulled the trigger again.

After firing two steel-spike rounds, he stared through the dissipating smoke at Xu Chao Xian, who was completely unharmed. He froze for a moment, then instinctively raised the hammer-like modified firearm in his hand and charged toward the podium.

The security guards and bodyguards at the edge of the field had already pounced, pinning him to the ground. Beneath layer upon layer of restraint, the attacker's mask was torn from his face, exposing scars that looked as though they had been eaten away by acid—ugly and savage.
He forced his head up, staring at Xu Chao Xian, who stood protected in the middle of his subordinates. His eyes were bloodshot.
He roared and struggled again and again.

His mouth was gagged.
Drag him away.
Tong Shan's eyelid twitched, and his gaze lowered.
A soundless sigh.
